We’re really delighted to welcome one of the most exciting and innovative bands around to Yellow Arch studios on Thursday 16th September.
Archipelago’s music is an atmospheric and vibrant mix of improvised music and jazz with electronics, alt-rock and song-writing, and a restless creativity and originality that refuses to allow them to be pinned down to a single genre. Their new album ‘Echoes To The Sky’ really exemplifies this.
Featuring Faye MacCalman on saxophone/clarinet/vocals/synth, John Pope (Bass/FX) & Christian Alderson (Drums/Percussion), Archipelago visit us following on-line appearances at Manchester Jazz Festival and EFG London Jazz Festival during lockdown, and have just been nominated alongside Emma-Jean Thackray and Fergus McCreadie as UK Jazz Act of the Year in the annual Jazz FM awards.
Since their debut at a tiny coffee shop they’ve played everywhere from DIY arts spaces and small rock bars to mainstream pop festivals and jazz nights and festivals across the UK including Latitude, where they were picked as a festival highlight by Tom Robinson (BB6 Music). This is their fourth visit to one of our nights, most recently an unforgettable gig in 2019 in collaboration with J Frisco.
