La Rumba 3rd Birthday: Mr Scruff, Awesome Tapes From Africa, SNO

To celebrate 3 fun-filled years of events, we’re hosting our biggest event to date at Yellow Arch Studios with 3 of our favourite DJs in the form of Mr. Scruff, Awesome Tapes From Africa and SNO, with a couple more special announcements in store.

First up we have UK legend and one of the best selectors in the game, period. With a collection of over 20,000 records, Mr. Scruff‘s sets see no boundaries, moving seamlessly between soul, funk, hip hop, jazz, reggae, latin, african, ska, disco, house, deep, funk, blues, breaks, soundtracks, drum & bass, techno, electro, dubstep, indie, electronic, new wave and anything and everything in between. With an all night long set to play with in the Warehouse, where he’ll take it is anybody’s guess.

Headlining the Main Venue we have the brilliant Awesome Tapes From Africa sharing his favourite sounds from across the continent through digital, vinyl and physical cassette tapes purchased on his travels. Expect anything from 80s Bubblegum from South Africa, Nigerian Afrobeat, Assiko from Cameroon to modern afro-cuban, highlife and afro-house.

Opening the main venue, we’re mega excited to finally be bringing Banana Hill‘s SNO to La Rumba for an energy-fuelled, eclectic and extremely fun 3-hour set. After seeing her play around and about Sheffield for many years, having our mind blown at Dimensions Festival 2018 and We Out Here Festival, we’re buzzing to have her play at our 3rd birthday party.
