The Leadmill presents: Patawawa
The year may be little more than a month old but DIY disco/pop trio Patawawa (Rory Lovatt, Sam Wilmot and Beth Garrett) are already making a strong case that 2018 belongs to them. Exploding out of Matlock, Derbyshire the band’s infectious rhythms, glittered guitar riffs and pop nous has already caught the attention of tastemakers including The Line of Best Fit, Clash DIY, The Guardian and NME who featured the band in their ‘100 Best Bands of 2018′ feature.
Having whetted our appetites with a succession of singles for new French imprint Splinter in 2017, Patawawa have cemented their reputation with the release of their debut EP. Named after the humble space where all their songs have, to date, been written and recorded, the Bedroom’ EP features 5 tracks guaranteed to light up any dancefloor ranging from the party starting Hype Machine #1 ‘Patagonia’ to the slower groove of ‘Song For Sam’, the French House inspired ‘Humpback’ and the melancholy disco of ‘Lonely’.

Funzing Talks: Murderers, Mafia, Hitmen & US Prison
Funzing Talks are coming to Sheffield. After capturing the imagination of audiences in London, Manchester & Bristol, our fascinating talks series is here to re-invent your evenings with an array of unique subjects, from inspiring individuals & speakers.
As a Brit incarcerated in Arizona’s highest-security prisons including supermax, Shaun Attwood lived for 6 years in the company of killers, ranging from Mafia mass murderers to Aryan Brotherhood prison gang members.
Join Shaun to hear his most gruesome stories, ranging from neo-Nazi psychos who killed just to earn gang tattoos, to Mafia hit men who whacked their rivals, such as Two Tonys, a mass murderer who left a trail of corpses from Tucson to Alaska but claimed they “all had it coming.” Two Tonys protected Shaun and told him his life story.
Shaun will introduce you to Slingblade, a sumo-sized Vietnam vet he befriended, who was serving life for killing his father-in- law during a flashback, and to whom the other prisoners gave a wide berth. He tells the story of Bonzai, the most dangerous prisoner in Arizona,
for whom the warden ordered built a special cell that included a shower and had its door permanently welded shut.
You’ll hear how Shaun came under threat while running a multi-million-dollar Ecstasy ring from Mafia hit man Sammy the Bull Gravano, the underboss of the Gambino crime family, who killed 19 people. You’ll learn how he earned the protection of the New Mexican Mafia, the most powerful criminal organisation in Arizona.
Living with a wide variety of killers gave Shaun a unique understanding of their psychology. Shaun is a best-selling true-crime author who does over 100 talks a year and has performed two Ted talks.
Please be aware that this talk is not for the faint hearted. Shaun will be showing actual video footage of gang members and even guards murdering prisoners in the jail. Due to the nature of this talk it is strictly an 18+ event.
Funzing Talks is a new concept which aims to re-invent your after work drinks. We’ve pulled together an impressive array of leading entrepreneurs, intellectuals, bright thinkers and incredible individuals to inspire your evenings.
Held in a hand picked range of bars across the UK, a Funzing Talks event makes the perfect after work activity.
Delve into a totally new subject and challenge your perspectives over a beer with like-minded people. Funzing has always encouraged you to do something different with your free time, so we say do just that – you never know where it may lead you!
