What’s on at Yellow Arch – June 2018


With summer now in full swing (ish), here it Yellow Arch we’ve upped the heat this month! This month is jam packed with parties galore! Kicking off the month, tonight we host Peddlers After Party playing non-stop party bangers. Also expect to see this month Peace in the Park official after party as well as our funk & soul summer jam.

Summer is just round the corner, so we thought “why not throw a free entry party to celebrate!?”

With our pals at Peddler providing amazing street food down the road and our neighbours The Old Workshop and Pina open for business, Burton Road is no doubt the place to be this weekend! Expect non-stop party bangers from the realms of funk, soul, disco, reggae, house, drum n bass and beyond.

Yellow Arch Presents Electric Swing Circus

Ladies and gentlemen, put on your dancing shoes, as we welcome The Electric Swing Circus for a show like no other!

A live 6-piece fusion of saucy 20’s swing and stomping electro beats. With an explosive sound that reverberates back through time, the ESC hotfoot their way through everything from, rock to electronica, house, big beat and rock n roll, all with their own unique style of swing.

Tim Eriksen Hardcore Americana 

Tim is acclaimed for transforming American tradition with his startling interpretations of old ballads, love songs, shape-note gospel and dance tunes from New England and Southern Appalachia.

Concerteenies with Nicola Farnon & Ryan Taylor

Singer and double bassist Nicola Farnon joins forces with singer and pianist Ryan Taylor – two well known musicians who combine together to give a class act of joyful swing and melodic songwriter classics. With bubbles, percussion, props, singing and informal introductions this is a fun and informal concert for adults and their young children.

What better way to celebrate the start of the Summer season than some top drawer funk and soul?! This one’s for the dancers and shakers!

To make sure we’re doing things reyt, we’ve enlisted the talents of one of Sheffield’s finest funk & soul outifts, Papa Soul! Expect infectious, soulful grooves that will take the night by storm with tasty remixes and rearrangements of classic tunes.

After the massive success of our PITP fundraver, we thought it would be rude not to host a massive after party… carrying on the vibes of the festival till the early hours!!

The Daily Grind Blues & Soul Revue

Featuring the Daily Grind House Band and specially invited guests playing blues, soul, R’n’B, Funk and Rock n Roll all night long, The Daily Grind promises to provide an uplifting antidote to the work and the weather.

Summer is here and the weather is niiiiice! What better excuse is there to stack the speakers up in the Yellow Arch courtyard and fire up the BBQ?!
For this one we’ll be inviting Sheffield’s finest selectors for a session moving from roots reggae to dub to steppas to jungle throughout the day / night.

Last month saw our first cafe session go down a treat! This time we’ll be inviting a handful of Sheffield’s finest musicians for an intimate acoustic showcase. Taking place in our Moroccan style café bar, the music will be accompanied by a fresh drinks menu, including new cocktails, gins and Craft beer.

The Limit Reunion

This famous tiny subterranean club was pivotal to Sheffield’s golden epoch of electronica (1979-1984) and hosted a multitude of live events during1978 to 1991 in Sheffield, featuring many live performances from local heroes Human League, Pulp & many more. Once again, under duress, the original DJ Paul Unwin will take to the decks on  playing some of the classic tracks from this era, while wishing to be playing music from the current period.

The Leadmill Presents: The Wired & Kara 

Having just come off tour with This Feeling, including a sold out hometown show at Plug Sheffield, The Wired have been touted as a band to watch by Fred Perry Subculture and Gigslutz. Their latest single ‘Up All Night’ was Radio X Track of the Week on its release, and has received several new plays on BBC Introducing. New single ‘Stay Here’ has already received BBC Radio 1 airplay and support from Huw Stephens.
