Yellow Arch presents Tantz & Tankus The Henge
Friday 28th April
– TANTZ –
Hard hitting klezmer & Balkan beats, sprinkled with a healthy dose of gypsy jazz that will have you stompin’ the night away! Over the past few years, Tantz have taken the UK world/roots music scene apart with their full-on musical attack on audiences across the length and breadth of this nation.
With awesome musical chops, and energy not seen since punk rock’s halcyon days, they have the ability to turn a gentle world music festival crowd into a heaving, pogoing mosh-pit, there’s something special about this band that manages to touch almost everyone who hears and sees them live! “Prepare to dance till it nearly does you in”.
– TANKUS THE HENGE –
The world of Tankus the Henge is uplifting and wild, dark and heartfelt. A six piece powerhouse of a band drawing visual and musical influences from old time Fairgrounds to modern day Circus; The Beatles to Tom Waits and Gogol Bordello to Radiohead, they embody a look and a sound that lies somewhere between their South East London home and the carnival town of New Orleans.
With their charismatic frontman, Jaz Delorean, looking like a lost character from a Terry Gilliam film and the pump and grind of the Tankus the Henge sound generating a groove that makes it impossible to stand still, their live show ebbs and flows like a small boat on a turbulent sea.
– BELGRADE BALKAN SOUNDSYSTEM –
Created from years living and travelling across Eastern Europe, developing relationships with local artists and musicians. The collective was created to share with Europe’s club culture and festivals a carefully selected compilation of unique vintage tunes acquired from old stores and private record collections of Belgrade, Budapest, Sarajevo, Bucharest and Easter Europe’s finest underground balkan scenes.
– CAPTAIN SIMMER –
Digging deep into his record collection for this one, expect a wild mix of hot jump up Island sounds from the Caribbean – Mambo, Calypso, Dub, Ska & beyond!
